Bowling for Columbine Essay

Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore’s Bowling for Columbine shows that it is way too easy to get guns and ammunition in the United States, resulting in more gun deaths than any other country in the world. Every year in the United States there are around 11,000 deaths from guns. In Canada there are only about 165 deaths per year from guns. American citizens claim that they have guns for safety, but many people misuse them.
The first example is when Michael Moore went to the bank; he could get a free gun just by making an account there. He just had to sign a paper, make sure you don’t have criminal record, and he was eligible to get a free gun. The U.S. government should be cracking down on how picky they are on weapon possession. This shows how guns and ammunition are too easy to get a hold of in the United States.
The second example is the Columbine shooting. The two shooters got their ammunition from the K-Mart from down the street. Stores like K-Mart shouldn’t let kids that young waltz into a super market and buy ammo. They should have their history checked and they should have a legal age limit to buy gun ammunition. Two kids that were shot at Columbine went to K-Mart and bought out all of their ammunition. They went to the president of K-Mart and demanded them to stop selling ammunition at their outlets. This shows that ammunition is too easy to get a hold of in the United States.
My last example is the kid who took his uncles hand gun from his house, brought it to school, and shot a 6 year old girl at his school. Parents should not have guns were little kids can get them. They should be locked up in a high place and unloaded. This shows that guns are too easy to get a hold of in the United States.
In conclusion, Michael Moore shows that it is definitely too easy to get guns and ammunition and something needs to be done about it.

Hague Panthers Football Team Looking to Stay Perfect

The Hague Panther football team is looking to stay perfect as they take on the PACI (Prince Albert College Institute) today at 4:00 in Hague. The Hague Panthers are 2-0 so far this season and are looking to improve their record to 3-0. The team started practicing on August 26th and look pretty solid on both sides of the ball. The Hague Panthers are lead by Chris Sawatzky and Dalton Janzen, the fourth year veterans.  The coaches of the team are Kelly Lungull (offensive coordinator), and Brett Berry (defensive coordinator). The PACI Golden Bears don’t seem like they will be a contender this year as they have finished in the basement in the last couple years, and are coming of a big lose, losing to Rosthern 73-13.
The Panthers played an exhibition game against the Wakaw Warriors and defeated them 36-26. There were lots of new faces on the field as many of the rookies got playing time. Travis Fehr led the team to victory scoring 4 out of 5 touchdowns. He caught 3 touchdown passes, and returned a punt for a touchdown. The special teams also looked impressive recovering a fumble on a kickoff. The kicker also looked good making 3/5 converts. It was bitter cold and raining, but the players battled through the elements and took the win.
In week 2 the panthers took on the underrated Big River Rebels. The game was a nail bitter as both teams exchange touchdowns, but it was the Panthers came on top with a 25-23 victory. The Hague offense looked shaky at best, with staring running back Travis Fehr not going 100% with a head injury, some of the younger players had to step up. “He ran into a goalpost about a week ago,” said the coach, “We don’t have a lot of depth right now.” Some of the positives coming from the game were the play of the defence.
